Anhelina Taran is a Ukrainian-Canadian TV host, journalist, and community leader dedicated to giving voice to the Ukrainian diaspora and strengthening cultural identity in Canada. Originally from Nizhyn, Ukraine, she built her career as a television and radio host before moving to Canada in 2023, where she continued her professional path and community engagement with renewed determination.She is the creator and host of “Tvoi Novyny Canada”, a YouTube news program that publishes weekly updates, interviews, and community stories for Ukrainians across the country. Through this project, Anhelina has become a trusted source of information and a bridge between newcomers, long-time residents, and Canadian society. Her content highlights not only current events but also inspiring stories of resilience, immigration, business, and culture.In 2024–2025, Anhelina successfully completed the UCC Youth Ambassadors Program, representing the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) in Calgary. In this role, she supported community initiatives, engaged young leaders, and strengthened cooperation between Ukrainian and Canadian institutions.Beyond her media projects, Anhelina is an experienced master of ceremonies and event host, having led numerous cultural, corporate, and wedding events across Canada. She is also the founder of Taran Agency, a media and event company specializing in high-quality Ukrainian-language content, including expert interviews, podcasts, and community news. The agency also organizes and hosts social, cultural, and private events—from birthdays and weddings to corporate gatherings—where Anhelina’s strength lies in her ability to understand people’s needs and create meaningful, personalized experiences.Her leadership extends to advocacy work. Anhelina currently works with the Canada-Ukraine Foundation (CUF) as a Partnership & Engagement Coordinator, supporting the National Holodomor Museum project funded by Global Affairs Canada. In this role, she contributes to raising global awareness about Ukraine’s history and cultural memory.With her background in journalism, passion for storytelling, and dedication to community, Anhelina Taran exemplifies the next generation of Ukrainian-Canadian leadership.
The UCC launched the Ukrainian Canadian Youth Leadership Award of Excellence for outstanding leadership in 1998 to give recognition to young adult Ukrainian Canadians that have made significant contributions to the broader Ukrainian community and for the betterment of Canada.
