Founded in Vancouver in 2014 by members of the Ukrainian community, Maple Hope Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to providing sustained support for Ukraine across military, humanitarian, and social sectors. Since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, the foundation has delivered critical medical aid to hospitals, mobile evacuation centers, defenders and their families, and provided settlement support for displaced Ukrainians in Canada. To date, the total value of assistance exceeds CAD 40 million (UAH 1 billion). Maple Hope also addresses the long-term recovery and resilience of the Ukrainian community. Its "Healing the Wounds of the War Together" project is Canada’s first nationwide mental health initiative for displaced Ukrainian women and youth, offering peer-to-peer support and professional care to confront the psychological impact of war and displacement. Initiated by MHF international campaign "Heal a Mother's Heart" provides professional support for grieving mothers and widows of war in Ukraine and educates professionals in Ukraine on loss and grief. The foundation has spearheaded innovative collaborations between Canadian businesses and the Ukrainian community. Through the Rescue Wings for Ukraine project, Maple Hope in partnership with the Unite with Ukraine initiative of the UWC delivered a fully-equipped Sikorsky 76A medical evacuation helicopter — donated by Canadian airline Helijet International — to Ukraine’s intelligence services. This was the first private aircraft donation of this magnitude from Canada to Ukraine, exemplifying a unique partnership in support of Ukraine. To cover transportation costs, Maple Hope launched a nationwide crowdfunding campaign that raised over CAD 100,000 in just three weeks, with contributions from across Canada and internationally. From lifesaving medical equipment to mental health support and innovative defense partnerships, Maple Hope Foundation exemplifies leadership and highlights the power of cross sector collaboration in delivering sustained assistance in times of crisis.
