Biography
Retired 2025 Assistant Clinical Professor Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University 2010 Hamilton School Board Cornerstone award for outstanding dedication and achievement with youth
Retired from Ministry of Education of Ontario at the W. Ross Macdonald Provincial School for the Blind, Trillium and Sagonaska Provincial Demonstration Schools for the Learning Disabled, E. C. Drury and Sir James Whitney for the Deaf, Hamilton Family Health Team consultant and mentor to 170 family physicians.
Co-developer of Child and Youth Mental Health Toolkits Toolkits for MDs and public Ministry of the Attorney General Central South Ontario completing forensic psychiatric assessments of young offenders for over a decade
Served on Board of Saint Volodymyr’s Institute, 14 years as Board member of St. Andrew’s College including Vice Chairman and Chair of the Board Development Committee, St. Andrew’s College Foundation 10 years Sunday School teacher at St. Vladimir’s Cathedral in Hamilton, Consistory Board of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada (UOCC) 10 yrs, Chairman of Clergy Development Committee and member of Episcopal Search and Development Committee, Chairman Nominating Committee UOCC Board. UOCC delegations to meet with His All Holiness, Patriarch Bartholomew at the Phanar to successfully advocate for autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.
Organizing committee Ukrainian Orthodoxy in the Global Family of Orthodox Churches: Past, Present and Future sponsored by Ukrainian Self Reliance Association at St. Michael’s College, U of T May 2014. Currently President of St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Grimsby for over a decade, Secretary of Hamilton/Niagara Chapter of the Order of Saint Andrew, Board Member of the UOCC Foundation developing two new initiatives: Parish Revitalization and Clergy Development. Concluded three terms as National President of the Ukrainian Self Reliance League of Canada in July 2025 Currently UOCC representative to Canadian Council Churches for over a decade.
The Shevchenko Medal is the highest form of recognition that can be granted by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress. It recognizes individuals of Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian descent for their outstanding national contribution towards the development of the Ukrainian Canadian community.
