Ellen Valter leads the $56M KESKUS Centre project, is a lawyer and credit union vice-chair, and an award-winning Estonian-Canadian leader in arts and diplomacy.
Speaker's bio
Ellen Valter is project lead of the $56m future oriented KESKUS International Estonian Centre project while also maintaining a busy law practice. She is the board vice-chair of Northern Birch Credit Union, a $200m deposit financial institution, of which until 2025, she was the board chair for ten years. Ellen holds business and law degrees as well as post-graduate certification in art conservation. She is bilingual in English and Estonian, President of the Estonian Canadian Business Chamber, and leads a number of innovative arts and heritage initiatives on behalf of Estonian Arts Centre, a 50-year old Canadian charity. Ellen’s leadership has been recognized with, among others, the Governor-General of Canada’s King Charles III Coronation Medal (2025), Order of the White Star from the President of Estonia (2014) and Estonia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Promotor of Public Diplomacy (2011).
