Denys Volkov, Executive Director of AMM, is a community leader and advocate, active in cultural, political, and humanitarian initiatives supporting Ukraine and Manitoba.

Speaker's bio

Denys Volkov is Executive Director of the Association of Manitoba Municipalities and previously worked in the Mayor’s Office at the City of Winnipeg. He served as Director of Communications and Election Observer during Canada’s Election Observation Missions to Ukraine in 2014 and 2019, and helped subtitle the documentary Stone Mill (Zhorna) about the 1932–33 Great Famine in Ukraine, presented to the former President of Ukraine in Winnipeg.

Denys has served on the boards of the Oseredok Cultural and Education Centre, and co-hosted the Denys and Ivas radio show. His op-eds on Ukraine’s transformation appear in the Winnipeg Free Press. He organizes fundraising campaigns with Ukraine War Amps to aid injured Ukrainian soldiers.

Outside the Ukrainian community, he was Vice President of the Manitoba Soccer Association and a member of the Olympic Torch Relay and Manitoba 150 organizing committees. Originally from Kharkiv, Ukraine, Denys holds a Master’s in Public Administration degree from the Universities of Manitoba and Winnipeg.
