John Denysek, a 4th generation Ukrainian Canadian, was born and raised in rural Saskatchewan where growing up on the family farm provided many life lessons.
As a graduate from the University of Saskatchewan’s Bachelor of Commerce program, John has developed a lifelong passion for learning. For the past 29 years, he has been a senior executive with SaskAbilities – a provincial non-profit organization enhancing the lives of people experiencing disability. John and his team of over 100 staff members continue to respond the needs of the community through innovation and partnerships, which has led to significant growth and diversification of the organization.
John’s desire to build service, organizational, and community capacity has seen him sit on numerous local, provincial and national boards. He has also assisted other non-profits with their strategic planning efforts.
His involvement in the Ukrainian community includes being a Ukrainian dancer both as a child and an adult, being past president of a Ukrainian dance club, and participating in numerous Ukrainian celebrations and festivals. He is presently the President of UCC – Saskatchewan.
John and his wife Christina have two adult children who live in Vancouver. Their daughter is a dancer on a cruise ship thus several trips have been taken with her to many different parts of the world.
